The aim
RCSpotter is built for RC flying clubs and their club pilots — airplanes, helicopters, race and freestyle drones, and gliders. Travelling RC pilots can find real fields, see live anonymous activity before they go, and connect with club pilots who are actually flying. The same window helps people who are curious about the RC flying hobby — visit a busy weekend club field, see models in the air, talk to pilots, and maybe catch the bug. More connection means more RC pilots worldwide. That's the aim.

Live activity is anonymous — and visible to visitors
On the public map you see counts, not names: who’s checked in, who’s flying now. No account needed to look. So on Saturday morning you can check a club nearby and decide: someone’s there — worth the trip — or it’s quiet, try another field or stay home.

RCSpotter works fully in the browser: map, check-in, Field Ops, workshop, club tools — all of it. The Android and Apple apps are optional. Their main job is simple: when you arrive at your field, check-in (and check-out) can happen automatically, so live activity on the map stays honest without another step on your phone.
Even if you never open hangar, sales, or planner — installing an app and letting field login run in the background still helps. Visitors and people curious about RC can see that someone is flying before they drive. More often they arrive to planes in the air and pilots to talk to — instead of an empty runway.

It started with one feeling: frustration
I'm James, from The Netherlands in Europe — a fanatic RC pilot, head instructor at my local flying club, with 35 years on the sticks flying pretty much everything: medium to large-scale planes, helicopters, FPV racing drones, and gliders. Whenever I travel for work or holidays, I try to visit local flying clubs. Meeting other club pilots is one of the best parts of this hobby.
And almost every time, the same wall: nineteen times out of twenty I struggle to find useful information online — sometimes because of a language barrier, sometimes because there simply isn't any. When I do find a club, locating the flying site is another puzzle. And on the rare day I get everything right and drive out to the field… there's nobody there.
That empty field, after all that searching, is why RCSpotter exists.
