Born from frustration · Idea since 2012

Every trip.
Same story.
Until now.

Find · Connect · Fly

RCSpotter helps pilots discover flying clubs around the world, find the actual field, and see who's there before you pack the car.

It started with one feeling: frustration

I'm James, from The Netherlands in Europe — a fanatic RC pilot, head instructor at my local flying club, with 35 years on the sticks flying pretty much everything: medium to large-scale planes, helicopters, FPV racing drones, and gliders. Whenever I travel for work or pleasure, I try to visit local flying clubs. It's one of the best parts of being in this hobby.

And almost every time, the same wall: nineteen times out of twenty I struggle to find useful information online — sometimes because of a language barrier, sometimes because there simply isn't any. When I do find a club, locating the flying site is another puzzle. And on the rare day I get everything right and drive out to the field… there's nobody there.

That empty field, after all that searching, is why RCSpotter exists.

The idea took root in 2012. What began as a fix for "where do I fly when I'm not at home?" grew into something bigger: a platform shaped by a pilot who cares about the details — check-ins, weather, hangar specs, club tools — because the community deserves better than guesswork.

Sound familiar?

Can't find the club

Websites missing, outdated, or buried in another language — if they exist at all.

Can't find the field

Even with a club name, the actual flying site is often nowhere on the map.

Nobody's there

You made the trip. The gate is open. The runway is silent. You pack up and go home.

The answer

RCSpotter connects pilots to places — and to each other

A live worldwide map of RC clubs and fields. See who's checked in. Get club weather with VOLMET. Log flights, manage your hangar, and give clubs a proper home online — built by someone who's stood in that airfield's empty car park one too many times.

Built for pilots. Loved at the field.

One idea sparked a creative path — features I wanted as a flyer, shared with the community.

  • World map Clubs and flying sites across the globe — pin-accurate, always growing.
  • Field presence Check in manually or automatically. Know before you go.
  • VOLMET weather Club-scoped forecasts and field conditions for safer, smarter days out.
  • Pilot hangar Aircraft specs, photos, and defaults for logging — your fleet, organised.
  • Flight logbook START/STOP sessions at the field. History that follows you home.
  • Club lounge & Field Ops Member tools, announcements, and day-of-field workflows for clubs that run tight ships.

From the founder

James · The Netherlands · Europe

RCSpotter grew out of years of flying, travelling, and wishing someone had already built this. I kept adding things I'd want at my own club: honest weather, a real presence board, a hangar that respects how nerdy we are about our models.

If you've ever tried to find a flying field abroad — in a language you don't speak — you're exactly why we're here.
